Robert Fripp

Robert Fripp is best known as a founder and continuing member of King Crimson; from the debut album “In The Court Of The Crimson King” in 1969, through to the most recent full length “The Power To Believe“. His career to date celebrates over 30 years as a professional musician and 40 years as a guitarist. Also well known for the development of Frippertronics and Soundscapes, a method of “making a lot of noise with one guitar” through the use of tape / digital delay, rack-mount synthesizer units, and other effects.  Though his on-stage appearance was thar of a “long-haired” rocker, in real life, Robert Fripp is quite a down to earth kind of guy.  There is a very ‘serious side’ to him that includes a profound interest in philosophy and things metaphysical.  [1] Fripp once told journalist Timothy Green Beckley that one time he had parked his van not too far from Stonehenge and was “moving some equipment around in the back” when he happened to look out the rear window and saw this “brilliant ball of light go streaking across the starry sky.” [1]

Its hard to believe there isn’t life on other planets, and they haven’t visited here from time to time. […] I’ve always been fascinated with the concept of UFOs and would like to get a good look at one someday soon. [1]

According to journalist Timothy Green Beckley, “Fripp had his wish granted” when he peered at the heavens through binoculars, waiting for the “flying saucers” to appear.  [1] Unfortunately, his sighting of the brilliant ball of light near Stonehenge may be the only thing he has to fall back upon as far as UFOs are concerned. [1] That being said, Robert Fripp is a very open minded person and he is not at his first “weird” experience.   He said that “amazing things would happen” when he played  guitar witrh King Crimson. “I mean, telepathy, qualities of energy, things that I had never experienced before with music. You can’t tell whether the music is playing the musician or the musician playing the music.” [2]
