Trump: “Hillary HAS to Go to Jail”

Shortly after Hillary severely criticized his foreign policy platform, presidential candidate Donald Trump fired back at her, calling her “guilty as hell” while exclaiming the former first lady “has to go to jail.”  Speaking at a rally in San Jose Thursday, Trump blasted Clinton’s speech as a “phony hit job” while characterizing his “tough temperament” as exactly what the world needs in our next commander in chief. [1] “Now she’s saying, ‘Donald Trump, do you trust him with the nukes?’ Let me tell you. My temperament is so much tougher and so much better than her temperament,” Trump said. “And by the way, we need a tough temperament. All of these countries that are our allies — she talks about our allies — our allies think we’re very stupid people.”  Earlier Thursday, Hillary told a crowd of supporters that Trump could not be trusted with nuclear codes due to his thin skin.  “This is not someone who should ever have the nuclear codes,” she said. “It’s not hard to imagine Donald Trump leading us into a war just because somebody got under his very thin skin.”  Trump took one-upped Clinton on the insults about his thin skin by saying her speech was akin to taking a sleeping aid.  “It’s like taking Sominex. To watch her is like Sominex. You ever hear of Sominex? Sleep all night. It’s hard to stay awake,” he said. “I think she could make more money if she made speeches and sold them for people that can’t sleep. It was hard.” [1] During the speech, the business mogul was fired up. He gave a lengthy response to Clinton’s foreign policy speech delivered earlier in the day, which labeled him unfit for office and thin-skinned. Trump called the address “pathetic” and “sad to watch.”  He ratcheted up the rhetoric against her, declaring that Clinton has to go to prison.  “And remember I said I was a counter-puncher?” Trump roared. “I am. After what she said about me today and her phony speech. That was a phony speech. That was a Donald Trump hit job. I will say this. Hillary Clinton has to go to jail. She has to go to jail.” [2]

The speech was filled with missives against the Clintons (“Remember Hillary Clinton used to hate Obama. She used to hate him!”) and more than a little surprise that the crowd had shown up for him at all, given that the first game of the NBA finals with the home-state team was taking place at the same time as his rally. [2] “She’s a liar. She made up my foreign policy! She said Donald Trump is going to do this, I never said that. And ‘Donald Trump is going to do that.’ A friend of mine was in the room and said, ‘You never said you were going to do that.’ I said that’s right – she’s makes it up. She’s a bad person.” Over the years, Trump used to speak well of Clinton, calling her “terrific” multiple times. He has dismissed those compliments by saying that as a businessman, he had to be nice to everybody for political favors. [2]
