A teacher was arrested on a charge of furnishing alcohol to a minor after allegedly hosting a party at her home for underage students and giving them alcohol, police in Arkansas said. Little Rock police arrested 48-year-old Marcie Duncan, who is a teacher at the William Jefferson Clinton Elementary School, after being accused of giving alcohol to at least 33 children while hosting a party at her home. [1] Duncan was charged with 33 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, 33 counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor, two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and violation of the Arkansas Social Host Law. Duncan was booked into the Lonoke County jail, and her bail was set at $21,000. A spokesperson for the William Jefferson Clinton Elementary School said that Duncan was suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. According to the police investigation, Duncan hosted a party for a group of children at her home. A neighbor called police around 4:00 a.m., to report that children were drunk. Police officers who arrived at the scene, were greeted by Duncan, who said that she has everything under control. Duncan seemed intoxicated while talking to the police. Officers noticed several intoxicated students between the ages of 15 and 18. [2] Some were lying on the floor passed out throughout the premises. [1] Others tried to hide in the nearby woods or escape in their cars, he said. [3] A large amount of empty alcohol containers were located in the general area along with a full sized keg. [5] The Police contacted the parents of each of the 33 underage individuals were contacted and an ambulance was dispatched for those who were extremely intoxicated. [1] The release concluded, “Sheriff Staley stated that he is very proud that the deputies were able to stop the couple car loads of teens from leaving. The Sheriff and his team are working hard to protect our youth and the few that decide to allow our youth to be in this type of situation will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law. Sheriff Staley advised that deputies have received information that through the night it is estimated that many more underage individuals had been at this location.
