Some people really like to play the villain, but this man from Venezuela named Henry Damon is really taking it to the next level . [2] A certain degree of dedication isn’t unusual among comics fans, but this man’s devotion to the Marvel supervillain Red Skull apparently exceeded his devotion to having a sense of smell. [12] A Venezuelan man has taken body modification to the extreme in a bid to make himself look like comic book super villain Red Skull. Henry Damon, 37, had already had several subdermal implants on his forehead before having part of his nose removed in order to achieve the right Marvel madman look. Despite the drastic surgery, Mr Damon, from Caracas, Venezuela, is getting ready to take it even further to fulfill his dream. [1] [Henry] has loved comic books since he was a kid and always dreamed of being Red Skull, but never got round to doing it. [2] The married father, who now calls himself Red Skull, also tattooed his eyeballs black before adding red and back face tattoos to look like the comic book villain. Red Skull first appeared in 1947 as the Nazi agent arch-enemy of Marvel hero Captain America and most recently appeared in the 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger, played by Hugo Weaving. [1] Portrayed as a Nazi agent, the evil character was recently ranked as the 14th greatest comic book villain of all time. [4] Throughout seven decades of Marvel Comics lore, the origins of Red Skull’s visage have varied from a horrific mask gifted to him by Hitler to skin-searing disfigurement from his own favorite poison. In Mark Millar’s 2009 Ultimate Marvel comics reboot, Red Skull carves off his own face with a kitchen knife to spite his father, revealed to be Captain America himself. [9] [15]
After meeting up with med-school dropout Emilio Gonzalez, who specialises in tattooing and extreme body surgery, Mr Damon ‘knew that this was his opportunity,’ a friend said. ‘He has loved comic books since he was a kid and always dreamed of being Red Skull, but never got round to doing it,’ friend Pablo Hernandez said. Gonzalez apparently conducted several psychological tests with Damon – who now also goes by ‘Red Skull’ – before agreeing to perform the surgery. He said: “First I have to ensure that a person is 100 per cent healthy, with no respiratory disease. “I asked for a tomography of the nose and sinuses to assure me that it was OK for surgery. “In addition, a nasal mucus sample was taken to make sure that it had no infection. [4] ‘Henry aka Red Skull is a physically and intellectually healthy person,’ Mr Gonzalez said. ‘He’s an excellent son, husband and father, who has an extreme taste for body modification. ‘Most of my customers know that body modification is the last step of body art, everyone knows very well what they want and as well as Henry, many of them are waiting for me for many years to make their dreams a reality.’ [3] Surprisingly, it seems that Damon is not yet done with his modifications. Mr Gonzalez confessed that Mr Damon is not done with his transformation, and is about to take it even further. Mr Gonzalez said: ‘Next will be silicone implants on the cheekbones, chin and cheeks. ‘Then we will tattoo his entire face red and then he will be Red Skull.’
Damon, who of course answers to the name Red Skull, was just one of several extreme body mod enthusiasts at the 2015 edition of the Venezuela Tattoo Expo. Also in attendance along with Mexico’s “Vampire Woman” and Latin America’s most passionate body mods was sorta-surgeon Emilio Gonzalez, a celebrity on the body modification scene who specializes in tongue-forking, surgical ear-pointing, and tamer pursuits, like nipple-removal.
