It’s simply amazing that the movie industry, what with their bleeding-heart liberal actors, directors, and producers that constantly spew anti-white rhetoric at seemingly every moment, find themselves in such a public dispute over the under-representation of minorities. Still, this is exactly what’s happening with the #OscarsSoWhite controversy. Desperate for a solution, some Oscar winning actors are willing to suggest ridiculous solutions in order to rectify the “problem.” At least one of them is openly discussing killing off the “old, white men” who make up the Academy’s membership in order to force diversity in the institution. Imagine the uproar if one were to make the same suggestion about minorities. They would be cast out of Hollywood and lit on fire. Still, its okay to say blatantly racist things so long as the race you are demeaning is white. The Oscars is usually surrounded by controversy after they announce their best-of nominees for the year. People are snubbed and favorite movies are overlooked, but rarely are the controversies surrounded by so much media attention. This year, as race relations remained tense across the country, many accused the movie industry of whitewashing movies and disregarding minorities altogether.
In January, the controversy was renewed after the Academy announced its acting nominations included no people of color for a second straight year.
“It’s no change there. It’s not as if it’s ever been awash with people of color. Let’s face it, the Oscar membership is mainly old, white men,” [Emma] Thompson noted of the issue of diversity within the Academy’s membership.
The Academy’s voting rules and membership structure have been updated in the wake of the controversy in an effort to ensure more diversity among Oscars nominees in the future.
The membership changes will eventually remove voting privileges from many older, white Academy members; however, Thompson feels the process of purging the older white people could be expedited.
“That’s the fact of it. Either you wait for them all to die, or kill them off slowly. There’s so many options, aren’t there?” she said.
Thompson then noted the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) is taking active measures to ensure its membership is more reflective of diversity.
This is just further proof that the industry that is so vehemently fighting racism is doing so by spreading anti-White rhetoric. They’re fighting racism with racism, yet take the holier than thou attitude against racists. How ironic.
