Lego’s is under fire this week after a parent’s group hit out against their new Duplo community set, which was created to include characters with disabilities. However, the parent’s group says that the toys are only serving to create prejudice against those with disabilities. According to Mad World News, Toys Like Me has been petitioning Lego’s to create toys with disabilities for years now in order to raise awareness among children that people suffer from disabilities. In response, the company released a set that featured an elderly man in a wheelchair, but the politically-correct-obsessed group was not satisfied with this. “We applaud Lego for producing a wheelchair using Duplo figure,” Rebecca Atkinson, founder of the campaign, said in a press statement. “But it’s so disappointing that the only wheelchair using figure across all Lego products is an elderly person being pushed along by a younger figure. What does this say to children about disability?” Lego’s responded by standing by their decision, saying that it will indeed teach children something important about disabilities. “We are always excited to introduce new accessories, such as the new Lego Duplo wheelchair, to further children’s constructive role play and learning opportunities,” said Lego spokeswoman Trisha McDonnell. “The beauty of the Lego system is that children may choose how to use the pieces we offer to build their own stories. In this case, any Lego figure can be placed in the wheelchair.” This story serves as a grim reminder that PC liberal groups will never be satisfied. Once you start making concessions for them, you’re putting yourself in their clutches, and they will never let go.
