Phoenix Women Busted for Shoving Vibrator Into 2-Year-Old Son’s Anus

Phoenix police have arrested a 21-year-old woman accused of sexually abusing a 2-year-old relative and then trying to blame it on another child.  [1] According to Officer James Holmes, police were called to Rickesha Burns’ home at 67th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road on Sunday afternoon for an “unknown trouble” call.  When police arrived on the scene, Burns was holding the boy who was crying hysterically.  [1] Holmes says the child, who Burns was watching while the baby’s father was out of town in California, was bleeding from the anus.The child was rushed to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital, where doctors discovered a foreign object lodged in his body. They noted that he was also suffering from other rectal injuries as well as a “hanger-type” bruise on his hip and another bruise on his neck. [4]  Burns told police that she was at the park earlier in the day with the family relative, who was also playing with an unidentified 12-year-old boy. Burns reportedly said she looked at a text message for about 10 seconds when the 2-year-old began crying, which indicated to her that the 12-year-old did something to the toddler.  When the toddler arrived at the hospital, doctors advised detectives that the child had injuries around his rectal area and that a foreign object was forced into his anus. According to court documents, the object “appears to be a vibrator or some other sex toy.”  [1] [2] Police said the injuries around the boy’s anus appear to be caused by a hanger, or similar object, being used in an attempt to get the vibrator out. [2] Detectives interviewed Burns and probable cause was developed to book her into jail on charges of sexual conduct with a minor and child abuse.  [1]  [7] Holmes said they found no evidence that the child had been assaulted at the park by another child.  Holmes said the toddler is scheduled for surgery to remove the object.  According to court documents, this is not Burns’ first run in with Phoenix police. According to the Phoenix New Times, Burns was investigated for child abuse in 2011 but no criminal charges were filed. She also told police that she “worked hard to get her son back and would not do anything like this to hurt her son.”  [1] [2] [3] At her arraignment today (April 10 2013), Burns pleaded not guilty to the charges against her, including sexual conduct with a minor and child abuse. A judge had previously ordered that Burns be held without bond. [1] Her next court date was scheduled for May 23 2013. [2] She was finally sentenced to a lengthy prison term after previously pleading no contest to child abuse and sexual misconduct with a minor.  A Maricopa County Superior Court spokeswoman says Judge Sherry Stephens on Wednesday sentenced Rickesha Jovani Burns to 18 years in prison plus lifetime probation.
