Lingerie Made for Men: When Being a Wimp is Sexy!

No dignity left…

This is absolutely mind boggling. It would seems that in our modern politically correct “pussified culture” women aren’t the only ones obsessed with owning sexy underwear. If you are one of those men who is jealous that it’s socially acceptable for women to wear lingerie, while you’re stuck with boring old boxers or tighty-whiteys, well, have we got some good news for you!  [8]  Men can now get in on the act too and look like absolute wimps thanks to a retailer who specifically creates underwear for the male body. [2] Who’s to say a man couldn’t don a lace bra and panties and feel just as confident and sexy? It’s an assumption rooted in rigid, age-old gender roles dictating what men and women should wear, both in public and in their own beds. And while women have made some inroads with more gender-neutral intimate apparel, you won’t find lacy lingerie designed for men in any department store. [9]  Enter Homme Mystere, a line of lingerie for men. The Australian brand launched in 2008, but only recently was available to buy online and has since attracted customers from across 30 different countries, including Russia, Canada and America; with its lingerie pieces proving popular worldwide.  [2]   While women have always been able to choose from a wide range of styles on the market, before now men haven’t had a whole lot of choice, limited to standard white cotton briefs – providing more choice for men was the motivation for couple Brent and Lara Krause in creating the label. [2]   “Men’s lingerie sits in an undefined territory deemed ‘not exciting enough’ for adult stores and ‘too confronting’ for mainstream retail stores,” explains the Homme Mystere website. [5] “A growing number of guys are discovering the comfort of lightweight lingerie style underwear.”  [2] The retailer offers a wide variety of lace-trimmed boxer briefs, suspenders, racy thongs and even bras, also known as manssieres. All the lingerie pieces look like women’s underwear, but are specifically designed to fit a male body.  Bruce Jenner will love this trend.. “Our goal has always been to offer an alternative style of underwear for men, based on their physique rather than their sexuality,” the company says on its website.  [2] Homme Mystere describes its customer as “male, married and older than ” who’s “taste is impeccable”.  [2] Which is, of course, an euphemism, a politically correct way to say  that he’s a wimp.  They continue saying that this mystery sissy “has discerning taste in underwear and wants luxury garments, but does not need to show it off to others. He wants something new and exciting to buy.”  [2]  Yeah right! Believe it or not, despite many people thinking the designs are meant to cater primarily for the LGBT community, a survey carried by the brand has actually revealed that 90% of customers are in heterosexual relationships. In fact, the brands’ campaign features a man wearing the designs playfully posing with a woman.

Look at this disgusting piece of shit… Do you mean to tell me that this crap is  anything else but pure insanity? Who’s really doing this shit?

While you might personally find the idea of unzipping your dude’s jeans to find a lacy thong underneath abhorrent, the designers would reply that the way Homme Mystere’s line  adroitly reconceptualizes and normalizes alternate gender expressions for men is very important.  In their overtly “politically correct” mindset, lothing isn’t inherently gender coded, although we’re enculturated to think so. [4] The editorial shots on the site of guys doing all kinds of mundane activities (like shaving, lying in bed, and hanging out with a lady friend) while wearing lingerie provides a great visual subversion of heterosexual, masculine ideals. [4]  But the retailer highlights they just want to provide the luxury option for men, regardless if they’re “gay, straight, vegetarian, republican, Anglican, Martian or any other persuasion”. [2] Explaining why men like to wear sexy hosiery, founder Brent told Huffington Post: ”I think bras are just something they [men] like the feel of.”  “I don’t know whether it’s the tightness around the chest or what it is, but it’s definitely the feeling that they’re after.”  [2] So, if you are ever looking for “comfortable men’s panties that really do fit, feel great and look sensational” and a break from your usual ‘tighty whities’ this lingerie trend might be for you.
