Sometimes enough is just enough. State police say a New York man having a bad day became angry when he couldn’t get macaroni and cheese at a Pennsylvania Turnpike rest stop, then furious when the same restaurant was out of potatoes. Forty-seven-year-old Kevin Nelson, of Amsterdam, was cited for disorderly conduct Wednesday. According to the Associated Press, 47-year-old Kevin Nelson took a break from a long drive at a rest stop on the Pennsylvania Turnpike earlier this week. Hungry and tired he stopped into a Roy Rogers at a rest stop in Hopewell Township, Cumberland County on Monday night for a bowl of macaroni and cheese. [4] The man then became “angry and agitated and began to curse” after learning the restaurant was out of macaroni and cheese. [2] Being angry and swearing isn’t a crime, of course. But police say after he got coffee from Starbucks and returned to the restaurant to order potatoes, things escalated. After he was told they were out of potatoes, too, Nelson allegedly became enraged and began throwing condiments over the counter. [1] [2] At some point the police were called to intervene. For many, a bowl of macaroni and cheese is quite important, and many consider the right to enjoy it a fundamental civil right. But having a major temper fit at Roy Rogers and throwing condiments around was probably something Kevin Nelson regretted doing once the state police came by to deal with him. [2] Some people might think Kevin Nelson is crazy but there is worse. Chucking condiments is pretty tame compared to the actions of one hangry New York woman. In February, she backed her Volkswagen Jetta into a local Pizza Hut after the chain reportedly lost the order. The woman then drove off after cracking the restaurant’s glass doors and was promptly arrested. [9]
