Ted Nugent to Obama: You Can Suck on my Machine Gun

Suck on my Machine Gun…

At a recent stop on his “Love Grenade 2007 Shrapnel Tour,” rocker Ted Nugent tossed some rhetorical bombs at a few top Democrats. [6] In a video from a recent performance posted on LiveLeak, the prominent pro-gun advocate, paced the stage with a machine gun in each hand as the crowd eggs on his increasingly vulgar tirades. [6] Nugent, which is an assault-rifle-wielding National Rifle Association board member and a spokesperson for the Outdoor Channel, told the crowd that “piece of shit” Obama should “suck on my machine gun” and also referred to then-Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton as “a worthless bitch.” [1] [2]

NUGENT: I was in Chicago last week. I was in Chicago and said, “Hey, Obama you might want to suck on one of these you punk.” Obama, he’s a piece of shit, and I told him to suck on my machine gun. Let’s hear it for him. And then I was in New York. I said, “Hey, Hillary, you might want to ride one of these into the sunset, you worthless bitch. Since I’m in California, how about [Senator] Barbara Boxer [D-CA], she might want to suck on my machine gun. And [Senator] Diane Feinstein [D-CA], ride one of these you worthless whore. Any questions?

And the Outrage Ensued...

As we might expect, the medias from the left were outraged. According to the Daily Kos and Right Wing Watch, Ted Nugent Nugent has threatened to kill: President Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, US Senator Dianne Feinstein and US Senator Barbara Boxer. [3] [4]  According to Salem-News.com, [15] All Voices said that Nugent’s words “sound like they came from a raving lunatic.” [10] Even the right wing itself has come down on Nugent for this one. A guest host for “The O’Reilly Factor” on FOX News, former Congressman John Kasich, reportedly told Nugent his comments were out of bounds. Kasich says the problem with politics today, is that it’s “being ruined because people are being polarized because of the personal attacks and innuendos being labeled at people.” [15] Those who are accustomed to his cynical sense of humor would say that it’s hard to take this as a literal threat of assassination against the president, but beside of that, how else would Nugent have his audience understand it? [9] Right! This is probably the reason why the Secret Service told the New York Daily News that they’re investigating his statement, adding that hey will conduct an “appropriate follow up.” [17]  Later on the Liberals were offended some more when Nugent was asked by a Tea Party Republican, Rep. Steve Stockman of Texas, to be his guest at Tuesday’s State of the Union Address. [10] Congressman Stockman, who is quite the character himself, thinks “a patriot like Ted Nugent” will “have plenty to say” following Obama’s address. [12] Seeing this, the liberals complained bitching that “unlike most people who have been visited by the Secret Service over their violent threats to elected officials, Nugent is invited to the State of the Union address.” [3]

There’s an additional political side to this: Nugent is a Mitt Romney endorser, from the days when Romney was worried about losing the Michigan primary and happily scooping up endorsements from every trashy, violence-prone, Detroit rocker he could find, although Nugent’s endorsement actually came after the primary. Democrats are hastening to tie the presumptive nominee to the guitarist. Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz wrote in an email to supporters Tuesday calling on Romney to denounce the comments. And he has: Andrea Saul, a campaign spokesperson, said in an email, “Divisive language is offensive no matter what side of the political aisle it comes from. Mitt Romney believes everyone needs to be civil.”[9]

Nugent Revisit “Suck on my Machine Gun” with CNN’s Pier Morgan

Nugent Ted Nugent to Obama: You Can Suck on my Machine Gun NugentOn May 18th, Ted Nugent was a guest on “Piers Morgan Tonight.” The central topic of discussion – the Second Amendment – was right up Nugent’s alley (Morgan was probably hoping Nugent’s fame might finally raise the show above the abysmal 77,000 viewers it was drawing during the month previous).  While it’s hard to say whether the show raised Morgan’s ratings or not, we do know one thing: Nugent put on a clinic for anyone wondering how best to take down a weak-minded, egalitarian European who doesn’t know Natural Law from Natural Light. [5]  For those who watched the interview, it was hard not to feel sorry for Morgan: Nugent was at his best and Morgan was at his usual.  Nugent had Morgan so worked up that at one time during the interview, Morgan actually said, “I’d love to suck on your machine gun.” [5] Probably Morgan was being sarcastic, trying to shame Nugent because the Motor City Madman had said pointedly of gun-grabbing politicians: “Anybody that wants to make me unarmed and helpless, people that want to literally create the proven places where more innocents are killed called ‘gun-free zones,’ we’re going to beat you. We’re going to vote you out of office or suck on my machine gun.”  [5] Like a typical liberal, Morgan spent a lot of time trying to drag Nugent away from fact-based arguments to emotional ones. But Nugent would have none of it. [5]

At one point, when Morgan whimpered about how “80 people a day die from gunshots in America,” Nugent snapped back: “And 75 of them to 78 of them — statistics by the Uniform Crime Report by the FBI and the U.N. study on violent crime — [75 to] 78 of those 80 are let out of their cages by corrupt judges and prosecutors who know the recidivism is out of control…[yet] they let them walk through plea bargaining, early release, and [other] programs.” [5] It was just a disaster, Nugent was beating him at every turn and every question of every argument.
