Donald Trump Calls Obama “A Psycho” over Ebola Response

Donald Trump

One thing is clear, Donald Trump is not a fan of US President Barack Obama. The polarizing businessman is now venting his frustrations with Washington’s handling of the Ebola crisis. Thursday on NewsMax TV’s “The Steve Malzberg Show,” real estate mogul Donald Trump called into question President Barack Obama mental health for refusing enact a travel ban on commercial flights from West African nations suffering with the Ebola outbreak.  [6] [12] We already know that the State Department has warned U.S. citizens against non-essential travel to Liberia and Sierra Leone, but restricting global flights ignores the way Ebola is transmitted, according to several global health organizations. [5] But Donald Trump’s brain started overheating following the diagnosis of two Dallas health care workers – one of whom flew between Ohio and Texas before reporting symptoms of the virus this week.   Trump on Thursday lashed out at the government on Twitter. Specifically, the businessman chastised Obama for not implementing a travel ban on the West African countries affected by the disease – and even questioned his sanity. [2] To some people, Barack Obama made it perfectly clear that his focus regarding the Ebola virus is not to protect the American people from it, but instead he is focused on the people of Africa. [10] Donald Trump took to Twitter to weigh-in on why Obama refused to ban flights from Ebola-stricken countries, questioning Obama’s mental health, referring to him as a “psycho.” [1]  [2] [3][9] As Americans deal with their own fears about the Ebola virus, including the possibility of it mutating to an airborne disease, the vast majority want a travel ban put in place.  A new poll by the Washington Post and ABC News, shows that 67% of Americans want a travel ban from those countries that have been affected by the deadly infectious virus that has no cure or vaccine. [10] Theodore Shoebat (shoebat.com) says on his blog that he is with  Trump on this one. “Why is Obama doing this?” he asked. According to him it’s  “because he wants to kill Americans and use ebola as a means to this evil end” and don’t hesitate to say that  “this is bio terrorism being used by our own government.” [7]

Later in the day, Trump reiterated that he thinks there’s something wrong with the president. Trump said his experience as a dealmaker means he understands people, even those on the other side of an issue. But in this case, he can’t understand the other side.  “If you take a look at the whole thing about stopping the flights, I don’t understand that,” Trump said. “How could you not not stop the flights?”  [3] [4] When pressed by Malzberg, he again said something’s wrong with Obama: “He’s either incompetent, he’s very stubborn or there’s something wrong,” Trump said. [3] [4] [6]  Trump told Newsmax TV’s Steve Malzberg that he’s standing by his “psycho” labeling of Obama.  “There’s something wrong and nobody knows what it is but there’s something wrong,” Trump warned. [3] [4] [6] “There’s so many bad decisions. Can anybody be that incompetent? There’s something wrong, there’s something going on,” he asserted. [3] [4]  The same day Trump blasted the president, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Tom Frieden who cautioned lawmakers that implementing a travel ban could very well hurt efforts to contain and eliminate Ebola.  [2] Frieden argued that sealing the borders could actually undermine the effort to track the sick and stop the spread of the disease. “Right now we know who’s coming in,” the CDC’s chief told Congress. “If we try to eliminate travel, the possibility that some will travel over land, will come from other places and we don’t know that they’re coming in, will mean that we won’t be able to do multiple things.” [4] [12] Borders can be porous, especially in this part of the world,” he said, according to Politico. [11] But Trump isn’t buying it, and brought it up again on Twitter again later in the day:

trump-obama-tweetsTrump severely criticized CDC Chief Dr. Thomas Freidan, whom he believes is taking orders directly from the president.  “He sounds like the most confused, disoriented man I think I’ve ever heard speak. He is just crazy…. He must be told by Obama that we’re going to keep these paths open to the United States,” Trump said. [3]

We have hundreds of people coming in a day from West Africa that could very well have Ebola and we just let them come in and he’s trying to make an excuse like that’s safer than keeping them out. It is the craziest thing I’ve ever heard and everybody agrees…. It almost sounds to me like he’s being told that this is the way it’s going to be and he’s trying to make this excuse. It is just ridiculous.  [3]

Nearly every African nation — along with Colombia and the Caribbean island nation of St. Lucia — has instituted travel bans on West African countries with significant Ebola outbreaks, and there is mounting pressure on the U.S. and the West to do the same. Trump said he is surprised that airline employees don’t just flatly refuse to work on flights leaving or headed to West Africa. “Where are the airline flight attendants or the pilots? Why are they agreeing to take these people? This is such a problem. You see what happened in Dallas…. It’s total bedlam,” he said. [3] [5]

The whole thing is crazy and it all started with somebody that came in from West Africa. They should absolutely stop the flights. [3]

Trump said Obama’s entire presidency has been rife with mistakes. “Every decision this country has made is wrong. Everything’s wrong. Everything is going wrong for the United States. When was the last time you heard something good about the United States? You don’t hear it. China just took over as the great economic power … this was unthinkable,” he said. [3]
