Gen. Wesley Clark, in a discussion on the broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time” on Friday October 31 2014, placed part of the blame for the Syrian Civil War on climate change After host Bill Maher quoted a report from the Department of Defense saying climate change threatens national security, Clark said “It’s what was behind a lot of the violence in Syria, it’s happening in East Africa, it’s happening in West Africa. Right now.” He urged the US government to take “real action, we need a carbon tax.” He added that climate change-believers were “winning” and that climate change “impacts the neediest the most.” [1]
