Portraits and busts of all the “white male professors” have been removed from the part of Stockholm University, Sweden, which is dedicated to the study of Law. The reason given for this removal is that they “portray elderly white male professors” and does thus not comply with the faculty’s multicultural policies. It’s even worst than it looks. Not only have they be removed, but they have also been replaced by artwork which apparently promotes “diversity”. The new “appropriate” artwork has been chosen by the Swedish art council in cooperation with Jonas Ebbesson and a work-group. These changes and the procurement of the new art will be paid for by the Swedish taxpayers. One of these is a drawing of a moose head colored with a rainbow. Dean of Stockholm University, Jonas Ebbesson, a White male, said that while “several of them [White Male Professors] have had great importance for proper scientific research” it is “nice that it is now gone from the faculty room.” The faculty dean does admit that “until the 70s all faculty professors were white and that they made significant contributions to legal studies.” Nonetheless he has decided to make these changes in the name of feminism and multiculturalism. He continues to say that:
We used to have a bust of one professor who 100 years ago was the most loud critic against making Elsa Eschelsson the first female law professor in Sweden. I think that it’s nice to not have that bust at the faculty anymore.
Ebbesson’s multicultural ambitions do however stretch further than art. During his time as dean, he has also launched a “Diversity Project” which aims to reduced the percentage of White Swedish law students in the university. He said “the Faculty business is characterized by diversity, openness and tolerance. He said:
Lawyers are overrepresented within many of societies positions of power and it is therefore important that the this group mirrors society
